Nearly finished with the little quilt

It isn't distorted, just draped over the back of the sofa. I'm quite pleased. I find it odd the three colours have all blended into one. There's a bright red, bright pink and orange.

Steph was here yesterday and she's fallen in love with the back....

Starting a new quilt (just a little one)

First I do do a little warm up piece, to get my hand back in, the tension right for this thicker thread and to try out the colours.

Just as well as the dayglo colours were just too harsh on the white fabric, So this is the first layer of quilting in just slightly toned down colours. There will be another row of single sided feathers outside of these. I hope she'll like it.

Something else has happened to the quilt!

But it's something wonderful, you'll have to wait and see until it hits it's first show. (not quite sure which yet)

I love Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday, so nice to lounge around in bed with chilli  chocolates!

The hand-tied flowers were just to big and high to be seen so I've split them into three and cut them down a little.

I think the ones on the cream dresser in the dining room look best.

Tea Staining on Sample

This is the sample now it's dried. I'd like it a little more blotchy but I'm on the right track. This was after two treatments, drying in between and not washing out. I'd like to wash it today but guess who came home with a load of washing....

And bought home her little notebook so I could finish it by sewing on a couple of Velcro dots.

Have any of you noticed if you go into your settings on blogger, you can now load your photos in the order you want and where you want! So much easier. I had to try twice to make it work as I hadn't realised you had to be in 'compose' mode to do it,

Premature ageing.

Premature ageing.
I had to completely finish my sample piece so I could try this out. I bought some Camp coffee (an old fashioned chicory and coffee liquid mix), some gravy browning (I was amazed this stuff is still made, contents:colour E150c (is this caramel?), water, salt, and glucose syrup) and a box of the very cheapest super market own brand teabags.
Last night I boiled about 10 teabags in a saucepan of water. I poured off the liquid into a jug and then to a spray bottle.
This is the before shot.
This is after spraying with the very cold strong tea. I felt the colour was a bit too even, so

I placed one of the wet cold tea bags in a couple of places and squeezed it over others.

In real life the contrast is not as great as it appears in the photos. And of course I have to wait for it to dry to get the final effect. Fingers crossed. I'm also wondering about putting it in the tumble dryer or setting it with my steam generator iron.
And should I wash it afterwards or not?.....
And it does seen at the moment the Camp coffee and gravy browning are superfluous.

I am the real Feather On A Wire

I didn't think I'd ever need to write that (grin).
I've just found out someone is using this blog name as her Twitter name. So if you are following Feather On A Wire anywhere else but here, it isn't me. And it no way represents any of my opinions etc etc etc.

Hey ho, life goes on.

Meanwhile, if you wondered what happens to my quilts when they come home, this one lies on top of a very large cream coloured commercial quilt. It's so much easier to wash this small one after the cats have made it grubby, though at the moment they'd need quite a bit of encouragement to go outside and get dirty. Come the summer they'll have to turn into real cats.

Just a little test from my phone

I don't really have much to say, I'm just playing with my new phone. My quilts came
back last week from their US trip so now I can finally sleep under it.
