A little done.

On the domestic front it has been a little busy here since my last post. We had another shed built in the garden. That involved a new base, trimming the trees over where it will go, building it and bringing all the stuff here we have been keeping in storage. Downsizing is not easy. Really every time you think you have got it sorted you realise there is still more to do.
Did I mention, I also lost a couple of days to a bug?
I did get a little quilting done on the big quilt, sorry no photos yet.
And I have been doing some of the hexagon stars for my Di Ford Mystery Quilt in the evenings. Still not all done, 36 are required in total. But they do look pretty don't they?

It's all in the detail. (or how to go quietly mad.....)

I have been quilting this for over a week now with not a tremendous amount to show. Today and yesterday I have been doing the basket weave fabric. With the extra layer of trapunto underneath it looks amazing. I should get the last flower pot finished today.

 The weave is quite small.

It is extra difficult to freely move a quilt when someone decides to sleep on the side of it.

Eventually, after a few hours, I got him to move off and onto his temporary bed.

But then I needed to leave the studio for a few seconds.
By this time it was 7pm and I gave up for the night.

Scissorhands Sally

I am always up for gadgets and gizmo's which might make my life a little easier. So when I saw this little fingertip control mini rotary cutter by Fiskars, I had to try it.

I thought it would be great for fussy cutting. It has a ring part which slips over your index finger and you point and cut.
It has a little cover over the blade. I felt I was dicing with death removing it. The control is good, if you start in the right place. It might have had more success if I had been standing over it on my cutting table. If you are like me and use your hands a lot whilst talking, then you probably need to be alone in a room whilst using it. I might use it again but probably not, it scares the living daylights out of me. Even putting the cover back on felt risky.
I have done a few more fussy cut stars.
